Dental implants are the closest solution in dentistry to replace one or more missing teeth.
They are designed to not only regain lost function, but also to restore smiles. Implants feel and look authentic, and also stimulate the underlying bone to prevent an aged and sunken-in appearance due to shrinkage of the jaw bones. They are better than other alternatives like bridges and dentures because no additional teeth need to be altered, and they can sustain the bite force of natural teeth.
What are Dental Implants
An implant is a surgical grade titanium root form that is place into the upper or lower jawbone. After placement the implant will undergo a process called osseointegration where the bone forms and fuses around the implant. Once this occurs the implants can be restored with individual crowns, bridges or dentures. In cases of multiple missing teeth, you may be able to use less implants than the number of missing teeth to restore the dentition.
Are dental implants right for you?
If you are interested in replacing one or more teeth, please ask us for a consultation. In some cases a lack of bone volume may require additional procedures including bone grafting or sinus lifts to augment the area before implants can be successfully placed. Most healthy patients are candidates for implants and they are a great long term solution to restore your chewing function and your smile!
